8/22/2017 0 Comments Week of August 21This week has gotten off to a wonderful start! I hope that everyone had a great Eclipse day! I am sorry that I missed the celebration with the class, but I know you all enjoyed your time with Mrs. Dixon's class. We also had picture day yesterday! If you were absent, please go ahead and mark your calender's because picture day make-ups will be September 18th!
I wanted to thank the Sander's staff for helping make sure that our class doesn't stop learning in my absence. I am back home on bed rest, but I know that the staff is there and taking care of business. Mrs. Brown will start pulling her groups today, and I know that EVERYONE is excited to be working with her again this year. (I know that I am!) Also, Wednesday will be a NUT Day (no uniform today for $1) and we have our first Guidance lesson with Ms. Obaidullah on Thursday morning followed by the Back to School Bash that afternoon (it is $5 and will be right after school. This includes a snack and fun activities for those that have paid and provided the permission form!) Lastly, Friday will be a PBIS Celebration day! Students will spend their specials time playing and having fun. They will be getting wet, so if possible you might want to send students with an extra change of clothes. One last note, students will be taking their STAR test this week to assure that they are checking out books that are on their correct AR reading level. Please remind them to try their absolute best so they are getting books that are on their true reading level. Here is to another great week as Sanders' SUPERSTARS!!!!! 8/6/2017 0 Comments August 06th, 2017Thank you!!!Thank you all for the wonderful warm wishes last week. It was one for the books. I hope that this week we have a less eventful week with a lot of learning and fun! We will start our homework notebooks this week and students will get their classroom jobs!!! I am looking forward to getting to know your children better as people and learners!!! This is going to be a wonderful year!
PLEASE DON'T FORGET... This Thursday, August 10th, is our Open House at Sanders. I cannot wait to see everyone sometime between 6:00 - 8:00pm!!! Mark your calendars and get excited!!!! It is that time again, time for another wonderful year at Sanders Elementary School. We have had a lot of wonderful changes around the building and very excited for our new principal!!! I will do my best to update weekly, if not daily (in the homework tab). We will be using ClassDOJO for monitoring behavior and I will also use this for a majority of direct communication.
If I did not get to meet you at Sneak-A-Peek, please know that Open House will be August 10! I look forward to seeing you all then, if not before. 8/1/2016 0 Comments Week 1: A new beginningToday was the beginning of my 3rd year of teaching at Sanders Elementary and I must say it looks like it is going to be a great year! The students were very excited and ready to learn. We talked about our Class Dojo and what we want to be rewarded for and what we should be cautious of. We also went over the STAR standards for how to act while in the building, classroom, on the playground, and on the bus. This week we will not have much homework, if any. All I am requesting the students accomplish is getting their parents signed up for our Class Dojo and the paperwork completed in the "Cobb County Folder". Once these have been completed I will gladly collect them. Once we have everything turned-in and 100% participation with our Class Dojo we will have a special treat provided by Mrs. Gray! I hope that we have a FANTASTIC year!!!!
5/26/2016 0 Comments Here is to another great year!Yesterday was the end to another great year here at Sanders Elementary School. Some tears were shed but we had a lot of laughs and hugs! Coming soon... a slideshow of pictures from this year. It was a wonderful year with some AMAZING students. I cannot wait to see what the future holds for them. Now it is time for me to finish up paperwork, clean the classroom, and prepare for summer vacation with my sweet little girl.

8/17/2015 0 Comments Happenings this weekThis week we are working on a lot of new things and still some assessments.
Students will be taking the STAR test to determine their AR level. This will help students pick a book that is "just right" for them. They will also begin testing on these books soon and earning gold stars!!! In math we are discussing measurement with weights because as we dive into the year it is something that is used throughout the curriculum. We are also reviewing some second grade standards to set our foundation for the year. Social studies has begun with a bang! We are discovering the attributes of our world by learning the basic map skills before we dive into Greece and the foundations of our government system. Tomorrow, it is Steve B's night for our Sander's family at the location on Barrett Parkway and Dallas Highway. The class with the greatest turnout will receive a pizza party (if I read my e-mail correctly)! 7/31/2015 0 Comments What a year aheadAs I sit here and finish working in the classroom today, I am predicting that this year will be my absolute best year with my class. We will learn so much from one another! I know that they will find a love for learning. I hope to instill a love of reading and a sense of community within these walls.
This coming week will be a lot of practicing procedures and learning how to be a Sander's Superstar! We will begin assessments to make sure that as we dive into the standards everyone's goals can be achieved within our workshop model. My goals as your teacher are: to continue with my own learning, to set an example for you all; read with my class everyday; implement new strategies in reading and writing; post on the blog weekly, if not daily; make everyone feel safe and comfortable; and to ALWAYS have my students' needs come first! It is going to be a wonderful year and I know we can all be successful in achieving our goals if we work together! I'll see you Monday, ready to start our adventure together. 4/30/2015 0 Comments #OfthePeopleToday, our class had a wonderful virtual field trip watching President Obama speak about reading and literature. He encouraged young readers to dive into some classics, motivated the discussion to help get more books into student's hands, and spoke about future careers in Math and Science. The students were very engaged as the President spoke. It was a joy to watch how captivated they were in the leader of our nation. I would highly recommend that parents and students take the time to watch the conversation. Discovery Education hosted the event, so go to their website and search in their archives for "OfThePeople". |
